ITALIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM FEATURES IN GLOBO/LA FIAMMA

Narrabundah College and its Italian program were recently featured in Il Globo/La Fiamma, an Italian language newspaper with distribution across Australia.

As suggested by the title, “Narrabundah, a polyglot college in Canberra”, the article focusses on the languages program, with an emphasis on Italian, offered by our College. Journalist Sara Bavato, the article’s author, also highlights the importance that the IB has for Narrabundah College.

After giving a brief overview of the IB program, Sara provides some information about the Italian classes. She mentions the courses and some of the units that are taught. She then writes about the activities that were regularly organised (before COVID19 hit us) for the students of Italian. Some of the activities mentioned are:the two-yearly trip to Italy, the excursion to the Italian Film Festival, the hosting of guest speakers from ANU and the Italian Embassy, the visits from Telopea Park School and Alfred Deakin High Italian students and the end of year lunch at a local restaurant with the Italian students. A paragraph is devoted to UN Day and there is also mention of the French Baccalaureate.

Throughout the article Sara underlines how Narrabundah College provides its students with a multicultural, open-minded and global view of the world.
