The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is an internationally accepted comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum for students aged between sixteen and eighteen. The general objectives of the IB are to provide students with a balanced education; to facilitate geographical and cultural mobility; and to promote international understanding through a shared academic experience.
In the years since its founding, the IB diploma has become synonymous with academic integrity and intellectual promise. The student who satisfies its demands demonstrates a strong commitment to learning, both in terms of mastery of subject content and in the development of the skills and discipline necessary for success in a changing world.
Only schools officially approved by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) are authorised to offer the curriculum and to present candidates for examination. There are around 6000 member schools in 157 countries throughout the world; that offer one or more IB programmes, with the Diploma Programme being offered in over 3880 schools.
The Examinations Office oversees two examination sessions per year. Narrabundah College prepares candidates for the November session. Examiners worldwide participate in the assessment of student work.
Cost of IB programme approximately $2700. Initial $1500 (includes subscriptions to Kognity/Managebac and administration fees). Exam fees are approximately $1200 (depends on how many subjects the student is taking that requires exams and the conversion rate from SGD to AUD).
To be considered for the IB Diploma Programme at Narrabundah College an enrolment must be lodged with the ACT Education Directorate (enrolling in an ACT School) as well as completing and returning the IB Application Form by the due dates given by the Directorate.
